Camille the cougar is one of 7 big cats we rescued from Texas in July 2011. A woman had kept 40 big cats as 'pets', and when she passed away suddenly, the animals, kept in deplorable conditions, were abandoned. Insync Exotics, a sanctuary in Texas, heard about the situation and contacted Popcorn Park to see if we could help out, as they couldn't provide space for them all.
Luckily for Camille and 6 other big cats, soon to be known as the Texas 7, we were able to make room. All 7 had lived in squalor, many with long-standing health issues, and now had the chance at a new and improved life. Popcorn Park paid for a temperature-controlled transport truck to bring them up from Texas, where they were given health exams, inoculations and other needed vet work.
