Gwen the cougar is one of 7 big cats we rescued from Texas in July 2011. A woman had kept 40 big cats as 'pets', and when she passed away suddenly, the animals, kept in deplorable conditions, were abandoned. Insync Exotics, a sanctuary in Texas, heard about the situation and contacted Popcorn Park to see if we could help out, as they couldn't provide space for them all.
Luckily for Gwen and 6 other big cats, who became known as the Texas 7, we were able to make room. All 7 had lived in squalor, many with long-standing health issues, and now had the chance at a new and improved life. Popcorn Park paid for a temperature-controlled transport truck to bring them up from Texas, where they were given health exams, inoculations and other needed vet work. Gwen is doing well, and is happy to have stayed with her bonded mate, Lance. She would love to know that you will be her sponsor.
