Popi's owner wanted to toss him on the street because he was sick. His crime was to have eaten wood from the handle of a plunger. He hadn't eaten or gone to the bathroom in over two days when the owner's sister's good sense prevailed. When the sister brought Popi in, it was clear that the pup was in terrible pain. X-rays revealed the 8 month old terrier mix was completely blocked.
The Society moved him immediately to a nearby veterinarian who could perform the surgery, which required the removal of a large part of the intestine. In five days time, Popi returned to the Society's Medical Department to begin his convalescence. It was also discovered that Popi had plenty of intestinal parasites, probably one of the reasons he wanted to eat everything in sight.
Popi is well on his way to recovery now, thanks to the Society's ResQ Fund being able to provide funds for his surgery. Please support this special fund which makes it possible for animals to receive the specialized care they need when they need it. Your support helps save the lives of pups like Popi.
Great news! Friday, Sept. 9, Popi is on his way to finding a great home!
