Sharyn and Brenda - Blind and Abandoned on Porch

Brenda and Sharyn's holiday photo.

Sometimes the world seems too much to handle . and there does not appear to be answers to problems that arise. In an act of hopelessness and despair, two handicapped and very loving cats were dumped on a porch -- a very dangerous thing to do. Perhaps their owner did not know where to turn.

We do not know why these two very well-fed cats were left behind to be someone else's problem. A Newark resident found the two cats on his porch -- one in a box and the other stayed close by. The abandoned cats were brought to the Society by the homeowner. The cats had been well cared for but both cats had severe eye problems that were left unattended for a lengthy time.

The cats were brought to Popcorn Park where they were given medication for pain relief and then given thorough exams. One cat was blind and due to health problems and discomfort, the eyes were removed. Her sister had similar discomfort due to what appeared to be entropion eyelids which required medical attention. She was given necessary the medical care she needed and it is believed she may have a little sight.

Sharyn and Brenda are convalescing in our Administrative Offices and are in need of a responsible caring home. Thanks to our Res-Q Fund , your donations help us to continue to help -- even when the situation may appear hopeless to others. As bleak as the situation may be, pet owners need to overcome their anguish and communicate to those of us who will either help or refer you to other resources.

Sharyn and Brenda are at the Society's Forked River facility. For more information, call the Society at 609-693-1900 or e-mail us.
