Just A Puppy, Blossom Thrown from Car

On the night of Nov. 22nd, someone drove through Newark's Branch Brook Park and threw a very young, helpless pup out of the car window. The AHS was called by the Essex County Sheriff's Dept. and an Animal Control Officer was dispatched to pick up the adorable little pup. We immediately took the pup to the Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Fairfield to check her health and to see if there were any broken bones or internal bleeding. After the pup was found to have no major trauma, we brought her back to the Society's Newark Animal Care Center and directly to the Medical Dept. where veterinarians gave her all necessary inoculations and found her to be suffering from demodectic mange. It is believed that the heartless people who threw her out of the car did not want to be bothered with this skin condition. They could have brought her to the Society….

AHS is here to help animals -- just like we have been over the last 100+ years. For many of them, we are the only bit of kindness that they have experienced in their lives.

What a miserable way for a helpless, hopeless pup to spend Thanksgiving. But we are here to insure that Christmas and the New Year will bring her the love and acceptance she would love! She is presently in the Administrative Offices, and she loves people, loves toys, and we are making every day of her `new life' a happy carefree day.

If you would like to help with Blossom's medical care, please donate to the AHS Res-Q Fund so that her Christmas will be the first of many merry memorable moments in her life. For more information, call the Society at 973-824-7080 or e-mail usrefer to File 121538-F (Newark).

UPDATE - JANUARY 13, 2014 - Take a look at Blossom now, nearly 2 months after she came to us!

It's amazing what good care, proper treatment and lots of attention can do. This is one pup that has truly blossomed!
