Van Gogh Update - Feb. 14

Vinnie is getting a little tired of all of the snow that we're having ... he's anxious to take another wagon ride, but there's nothing but slush and ice! But he's not letting it get him down, or keep him down. Vinnie got up a couple of times all by himself today to take a little walk around his room and check things out. Of course, as soon as we all hear that Vinnie is up and walking, we all have to say hello to him and cheer him on. Vinnie absolutely loves the attention and now, whenever he is left to take a nap, as soon as he hears one of us passing his room, he gets to yodeling and howling to get our attention. It's simply amazing that he has such strength and wants so much to be with people.

Vinnie had a great check up this morning with his good friend, Dr. Baris. After all of his medicating and examining, she took a good listen to his chest and it sounds as though his pneumonia is finally clearing. We are just thrilled with that news! He will no longer need nebulizer treatments every day, but he will continue his injectable and oral antibiotics for the infections in his wounds. His wounds are slowly healing, though the deep wounds to the armpits are a continued concern. Little by little, he's on his way to recovering, and we couldn't be happier for him.

Besides being quite the talker these days, Vinnie will also play a bit with some toys from time to time now. He also discovered what fun it is to try to get peanut butter out of a Kong, and had a great time licking peanut butter off of his nose for a while. As soon as the weather clears, Vinnie will be back to taking his stroller and wagon rides, and getting some fresh air.

Thank you for your continued thoughts and concern for our beautiful little boy. Please keep it up . he still has a long way to go. If you would like to contribute toward Vinnie's medical expenses, please make a donation to our Res-Q Fund.

Thank you, and stay tuned for more on the invincible Vinnie!
