Nina - Post-Surgery Update - Up and Walking!

It's been almost a week now since Nina underwent surgery with Dr. Steven Cudia to repair two ruptured ACL's in her hind legs, and a torn meniscus. It has been slow-going for the beautiful lady Nina, but she is recovering well and getting better and stronger every day. Nina is getting much better with putting weight on the right hind leg, which was the worse of the two. She is definitely a strong girl that is eager to get well and get on with her life with a wonderful, loving family.

,

Nina had a family for many years after being adopted about 5 years ago as a tiny puppy. Read Nina's story when she first arrived at AHS. She was turned in to our Newark facility not long ago when her family was moving and couldn't take her along. Nina was absolutely broken hearted to lose her family and home, but she put on a brave face and was optimistic about starting over.

Nina was transferred to us a Popcorn Park a short time later where it was discovered that she had some orthopedic issues. Our veterinarian, Dr. Baris, took some x rays and found out that Nina was not just crying because her family gave her up, but also because she was in pain. She had major problems with her hind legs and surgery was scheduled right away to repair the injuries. We are so very grateful to our supporters that contribute to our Res-Q Fund, which is the fund that enables us to get help for animals in need such as Nina. If you can make a donation to our Res-Q Fund, it is greatly appreciated!

Nina is on the road to recovery and in another week or so, Dr. Baris will assess her condition and if all is going well, then Nina will be able to start taking meetings with potential adopters that would like to make her a beloved family member. Any family would be lucky to welcome such a wonderful girl into their lives ... Nina is one of the sweetest, most loving and affectionate dogs you'll ever meet. She loves people, gets along well with other dogs, and just wants to be with you. Please keep Nina in mind, and stay tuned for more on her progress. Below is a video of Nina after her surgery. Thank you all again for your concern and well wishes for our Nina.
