Mr. T has a very sad story to tell but it plays out at shelters across the state more than anyone realizes.
It was a heartbreaking moment when 9 year old Amy and her family brought in Mr. T, their trusting 3 year old dog. The family was on their way to a homeless shelter due to home foreclosure. Amy had Mr. T since he was a pup … and he was her best friend. She had said he was very friendly, loyal and loves kids. Amy told us how she taught him to sit for a treat, he was house trained and plays with toys. Mr. T arrived in mid-January and within a short time, the mourning for his lost friend and family took its toll. He missed them and it took lots of time and veterinary care to help Mr. T cope with this change in his life. He is not aggressive and he waits for "a new leash on life".
Mr. T would love to be with his best friend again …. but they won't be coming back. They are now at a homeless shelter …. just like their dog. Mr. T has been with us for several weeks and has been evaluated. He has been taken out to adoption days for a meet 'n greet and on hikes on the weekends. We are hoping to find him a loving home with kids and a yard where he will live happily ever after.
Please make a donation and help us to keep our doors open for such heartbreaking needy orphans. Mr. T is at the Society's Newark facility waiting for a second chance at happiness. Mr. T is just one of the lonely dogs that have a sad story to tell. The Society is located at 124 Evergreen Ave in Newark, just off Rt. 1 and 9 near the Newark International Airport.
