Van Gogh - Update - June 9



Well, our little boy is growing up. Today we started professionally training Vinnie, and boy were we impressed! We had a trainer come in to evaluate and begin training us to train Vinnie properly.

You all know Vinnie's story and background, and will understand why it has been very difficult for many of us to say "no" to Vinnie over the last few months. While his two primary caretakers don't let him get away with too much, he has a giant family at our facility with many aunts and uncles that all give him lots of attention throughout the day. Of course there is nothing wrong with the attention that Vinnie gets because he certainly deserves it, but there is a little problem with Vinnie being destructive from time to time when he is left alone when he doesn't want to be. So, we're correcting this behavior now before Vinnie takes down all of the walls in his room single handedly.

Vinnie did absolutely fantastic today with his first session, and we're not just saying that .. he really picked up on things so quickly, we were amazed! We've already got Vinnie to leave things alone that are on the floor or within reach, to not pick up disgusting things while he's out for a walk and eat them, and to walk like a real gentleman on the leash. Vinnie is starting to realize that he behave well and be a real gentleman, but will also have his off-leash fun in the exercise yard as well. He seems to know that he is accomplishing things and is eager to learn more. We're so proud of our little guy!

As you will see in the video, Vinnie's hips still need some strengthening, but he is doing just great. He makes more progress every day and just keeps getting stronger. Now, he'll be getting smarter too! Vinnie will be in training for the next several weeks so be on the lookout for more of the Invincible Vinnie in training!
