We are so very happy to report that our buddy Vinnie is doing just great these days. He was even feeling very grateful for his good health, and generous to his new friends, so he loaned his new girlfriend Trinity his stroller, so she could take a stroll while he walked through his latest Vinnie-O.
You may remember the story of Trinity, the rottweiler puppy that came to us long ago in desperate need of some help. She was brought in by a backyard breeder who had no use for the four month old puppy, who had a deformed front leg and a tiny stump for her other front leg. He turned this sweet and gentle puppy over to us without the slightest bit of remorse, and we fell in love with her right away. Trinity's front leg that was usable, had a deformed paw that resembles a lobster claw. She could use the leg, but since she had a stump for her other front leg, she tried to use that as well and walked with her head on the ground most of the time. Trinity was a long project for us and a definite Res-Q Fund success story. She was seen by several specialists who recommended amputating the stump leg.
Once that was done, Trinity went for several months of water therapy to strengthen her other leg and her arthritic joints as well. As you can see, she gets around very well these days and has a full and happy life with our kennel supervisor and her family. Trinity is still under medical treatment and receives weekly injections for her orthopedic issues, but she sure is one happy girl now. She is living proof of the amazing things that we can accomplish for these animals in need with the help of our Res-Q Fund. Help us do more amazing things for animals like Trinity and Vinnie and make a contribution to our fund.
Trinity has played a big part in Vinnie's training program, and the two are now great friends. Vinnie is extra gentle with Trinity and knows to be careful when playing with her. He is doing so well socially and physically too. Vinnie had a weigh-in recently and although he has not lost a whole lot of weight, he has lost his belly and has turned some of his flab into muscle. He actually has a waistline now! Vinnie is just as happy as can be and he continues to get stronger and leads a more normal life more and more every day. Things like climbing stairs are no longer a problem for Vinnie. While he can't climb them yet like a dog with no orthopedic issues, he is definitely trying, and we're confident that soon, you won't even notice a difference in him.
Due to the hot summer that we've had here in NJ, and Vinnie's dislike of the heat, he is not as animated as he was in his winter and spring videos, but he still has a great time and he even introduced Trinity to his old friend Patty Popcorn. Thank you all for your continued well wishes and support for Vinnie, and all of our animals here at Popcorn Park. Please stay tuned for more from the Invincible Vinnie.
