Tolstoy is just about all healed up and he's ready to move on to a fabulous home of his own. This adorable 5 year old pomeranian mix sure has had a tough time of it. He came to us from our Newark facility after he was found as a stray needing some help. We'll never know how it happened, but little Tolstoy had a badly broken pelvis. (Read his original post here.) It is doubtful that he was hit by a car since there was no evidence of any other injuries. After examination and x-rays, we saw the extent of his injuries and took Tolstoy for orthopaedic surgery. He is doing very well in his recovery and is now ready to meet his new family. Tolstoy will need to continue with a couple of weeks of exercises at home but we don't expect him to have any other trouble in the future.
He is such a lovable little guy that bonds very quickly with people. Once he gets to know you, he positively loves you, and just wants to be held and made to feel safe. Tolstoy has a couple of quirks, such as not liking when he is closed out of anything. He does not like when doors are closed, so he should not be crated. He will need a home with no small children and no other dogs but he seems just fine with cats. Tolstoy is well behaved and very polite and friendly, and he enjoys going for walks, playing, and checking out the world around him. He would absolutely love to be your little lap warmer for the rest of his life if you can give him the great home he deserves.
Thanks to your donations to our Res-Q Fund, Tolstoy and many, many other orphans are waiting for a new leash on life. For more information, call 609-693-1900 or e-mail us
