March 10, 2005, was a banner day for fourteen dogs from Arkansas who had been subjected to lives of abuse and neglect at the hands of Chester Baird, owner of the horrific Martin Creek Kennels -- they were on the first leg of their journey to finally find love. The fourteen were hounds and mixes, Shepherd, Lab and Rottweiler mixes - all frightened, emotionally scarred and some ill.
The dogs were immediately treated for any medical problems and then given doses of love and acceptance from staff whose only hope was their adoption into loving homes. And that's exactly what happened.
So far, nine of the fourteen have found just what they needed - caring people to help them forget their painful pasts. Pictured here are just three of the lucky dogs on their adoption days. (Two of the dogs with the deepest emotional scars are now fostered in a special home who will work with their problems; and three dogs still await.)

We look forward to follow-up stories on these lucky pups to share with you. It is thanks to those of you who care about animals in desperate need that we were able to rescue these fourteen dogs. Won't you please help us continue our animal rescue efforts and support our ResQ Fund?
