The City of Northfield decided to close down the park's animal exhibits. Due to age and joint problems, Baron & Sandy would have been difficult to place. It was feared that there was a possibility that they would be euthanized.
So Sandy and Baron are now ensconced in a quiet area of Popcorn Park Zoo where they will spend their remaining years. Sandy is actually known at the Zoo is Sandy B, as we already have a cougar named Sandy in residence. From the time they arrived, we have monitored their daily routines and they have weathered the change in their homes and lifestyles very well. They have a larger outdoor area and a larger den. One appealing quality is Baron's behavior of sucking his paw while he sleeps. One can only imagine that he may have been taken away from his mother before he was properly weaned, just another sad tragedy of the exotic animal trade.
Baron and Sandy are available for sponsorship under the Popcorn Park Wildlife Club. For $3.00 per animal, you will receive a lovely color photo and report quarterly.
