An historic agreement was signed that will permanently protect 120,000 undeveloped acres on the banks of the gray whale lagoon nursery in Baja, Mexico. The gray whale nursery has been repeatedly threatened by plans for industrialization. A new agreement by the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Laguna San Ignacio Conservation Alliance sends a message to industry that they will do whatever it takes to safeguard Mother Nature’s last untouched sanctuary for the gray whale. It is a breakthrough deal which they feel is the first phase in a plan to protection one million acres surrounding the greatest whale breeding ground on earth.
