More good news on the dissection choice bills!
The New Jersey Assembly and Senate have both overwhelmingly passed A2233/S1739 which will allow K-12 public school students to use alternatives to traditional animal dissection without penalty. Currently, students in classes requiring dissecton, such as Biology, cannot opt out of the procedure which is very upsetting to many, or take advantage of the many alternatives without some form of penalty to their grade. The Associated Humane Societies is urging Governor Richard Codey to recognize that the time has come for dissection alternatives for our students and to sign the bill into law.
What You Can Do:
Contact NJ Acting Governor Richard Codey. Ask him to please sign A2233/S1739 into law to give students a choice on dissection.
