The Vested Interest Fund has been somewhat dormant due to lack of funds, but the Associated Humane Societies recently presented 6 bullet-proof/stab-proof vests for the Dover Township, N J K-9 team. The Society paid for two vests; Garden State Veterinary Hospital in Tinton Falls donated funds for two vests and Dover Township’s Vest-A-Cop program donated for two vests. Society representatives and Patricia Smillie-Scavelli, Administrator for Garden State Veterinary Services were on hand for the presentation. According to the Police, dogs serve about 7 years on the department before they are retired & remain with their partner’s family. The Associated Humane Societies has donated over 900 K-9 vests throughout the State of New Jersey.

More funds are needed as presentations are to be given out in the City of Burlington and six are needed for the Township of Irvington. Your donations are needed so that New Jersey's K-9's can continue to be vested and protected. Please read more and make a donation to the Vested Interest Fund today!
