Abandoned Fish Rescued from Filthy Pool

IF YOU THINK WE ONLY HANDLE STRAY DOGS AND CATS, YOU'RE ALL WET!

The Society received an urgent phone call from a Scotch Plains, N J resident. The adjacent home was being demolished within 2 days, and the previous tenants, that had left over a year ago, had abandoned numerous fish in a pond.

Society staffers were immediately on the case -- and it was a huge swimming pool -- blackened with dirt, leaves, pollution, and it took the workers over 5 hours in 100 degree heat to rescue them all.

All the goldfish are now ensconced at the Society's Newark Animal Care Center in clean, fresh water and eating special nutritious food. It was a miracle that they survived that long in such polluted, black water.
