Surely a Monmouth County Sheriff Department’s K-9 named Solo did not die in vain. For as a result of the fatal shooting of this dog, the Society led the fight throughout New Jersey and the nation to furnish a bullet-proof/stab-proof vest for all law enforcement K-9s throughout the state. Over 900 were provided in New Jersey and over 150 throughout the nation. We continue to receive requests as new K-9s graduate or if a new dog is added to a unit and so our Vested Interest Fund will carry on.
Both of the K-9 vests that have been provided were as a result of the kindness of our donors.
Police Officer Michael Thompson and his K-9 Diesel are from Long Beach Township Police Department. The vest was donated through a contribution made by Colleen Golden of Hackettstown, N. J.
Police Officer Kara McIntosh of the Mount Holly Police Department in Mt. Holly, N. J., with her partner, K-9 Patton. The vest was donated through a contribution made by Jacqueline Mock of Kunkletown, Pennsylvania
