The Society received a tearful phone call from a Waretown, NJ resident who had just discovered that he was terminally ill and needed to put his affairs in order. The top priority on his list was Jezebel and Rocky -- his two best friends. They had been adopted from the Society and he was concerned about their future. Society staffer allayed his fears and his two well mannered, sweet and very affectionate dogs were brought to the Forked River Shelter, Jezebel is 2 and Rocky is 4 -- young enough to be fantastic and friendly members in a new home and a new life.

The Society urges pet owners to be mindful of choices to be made in the event you become incapacitated or your pets outlive you. Great caution should be exercised before giving away your beloved pets. If you need assistance in formulating plans, we can help. Animals given away free to a good home have very little value to the new owners. Each situation is different.....each animal is different.
In the meantime, Rocky and Jezebel's owner was concerned about their future....and so are we. We'd love to re-title this story Home for the Holidays.
