This emaciated stray Mastiff wandered into the yard of Newark resident who decided to leave him there – at least that is what was told to the NJ SPCA when they arrived on the scene. The investigator advised the resident to have the animal taken care of immediately.
He was brought to the Society’s Newark Animal Care Center where he was immediately checked out. Staffers attempted to share their lunches with the dog who ate very little. Added to some table scraps was a supplement, Seacure for Pets, derived from deep-ocean whitefish that is pure protein.
And his appetite immediately improved. The product was written up in the February 2007 issue of DOG FANCY. This gentle giant needs all the help he can get! And we will go the extra mile for this needy fella as we do with all needy orphans.
We call him Fabian …. the name of the street where he was found. He is quiet, gentle and he was rescued just in time. Now he needs to be rescued again.
Note 1/25/07 - We are very sad to report that, despite our best efforts, this poor guy did not pull through. A necropsy revealed that he had numerous problems in his intestines as well as in the arteries of his heart.
