Hard Luck Hannah Needs a Good Break

We call her Hard Luck Hannah - she’s only several months old and already life had dealt her a miserable start. She was adopted to a family from the Elizabeth, N J area who had a 7 year old son. The beautiful little Westie mix somehow suffered a broken leg in the home. The parents don’t know how it occurred; there was obviously very little supervision, if any.

They had brought the sweet little pup to a local veterinarian, Dr. Tony Tavormina at V.I.P. Animal Hospital. Even as she held the pup in her arms, the mother didn't seem to be concerned that her son was taunting the pup in a face-to-face confrontation and also pulling on her leg. They made it clear they had no intention of paying any veterinary costs and signed a release form. Dr. Tavormina contacted the Associated Humane Societies so that Hard Luck Hannah would have a change of luck because she now deserves a good break!

The Society is extremely concerned about the adoption of any puppy, kitten, dog or cat to homes where there are youngsters below the age of reason. We have been criticized for our caution, but because of situations like this, these adoptions will continue to be done on a case-by-case basis.

A wonderful loving home who will provide a lifelong commitment is what Hard Luck Hannah needs so we can re-name her! File 59277-F (Newark).
