Car Donations Help Support AHS/Popcorn Park Zoo

IT MAY BE A JUNKER TO YOU. But to thousands of animals protected and cared for through Associated Humane Societies and Popcorn Park Zoo, that old car can mean hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of support.

AHS/Popcorn Park Zoo, with shelters in Newark, Tinton Falls and Forked River, is accepting used car donations to support the organization's animal welfare programs. Generous supporters only need to call 1-201-888-1085 and they are on their way to donating their old vehicle to a great cause. Auto pick-ups can only be made in New Jersey.

Recent tax laws allow donor tax deductions equal only to the gross selling price of a donation before expenses are deducted -- not “blue book” values. Therefore it is very important to donate to an organization that will process your car donation with the goal of maximizing the worth of your donation.

“Associated Humane exists strictly on donations from our supporters. However as our economy waivers, it's getting tougher for folks to make monetary contributions. Therefore, we are looking to provide our supporters with as many creative ways to continue helping us as possible,” said Roseann Trezza, Executive Director, Associated Humane Societies/Popcorn Park. “Some people may find themselves stuck with a vehicle that no longer runs or can't be sold. We say, let us take it off your hands and we will do everything reasonable to maximize the selling potential of your vehicle. Everyone wins, including the animals we serve.”
