BooBoo is a 7 year old American black bear who came to us from Iowa, via the same humane society that gave us Cindy Lou the cougar. BooBoo had originally been featured at a petting zoo where people would have their pictures taken with baby animals and feed them with bottles. Soon BooBoo began to grow - meaning she was outgrowing her usefulness. She also developed ringworm.
No longer wanted, she was taken by her owner into town to see if she could be used as part of a trade-in for a car. The car salesman saw BooBoo as a great advertising gimmick and made the trade. BooBoo made him a little money but he soon realized he wasn't able to keep her. The humane society was called in to help again. At this point, BooBoo had a severe fungal infection.
The humane society remembered we'd helped with Cindy, so tried us again. We were happy to take the beleagured bear. It did take awhile for BooBoo's infection to clear up, but she's fine now. The best news is .. she no longer has to work for a living!
For additional information on BooBoo, visit her in the Wildlife Club, where you could help support her.
