AHS 2009 Calendars Are In!

Every picture tells a story, and in the Associated Humane Societies/Popcorn Park 2009 Calendar, the 12 stories that accompany each month’s picture are ones of abandonment turned to love; cruelty turned to caring, and hopeless turned to a new life.

One month’s picture tells the story of Mocca and Franz, a young pit bull terrier and kitten who were found abandoned and starving in a crate behind a garage. After AHS staff brought this unlikely duo back to health, they were adopted together by a Brooklyn couple who now take them everywhere.

Still, another picture tells the story of Festus. The very young puppy was found abandoned in a lot with his Rottweiler mother, with many unsuccessfully healed injuries on his malformed legs. Through AHS ResQ Fund, Festus received the proper veterinary care, had his leg removed and was later adopted by a Pennsylvania Family, where the three-legged dog was later trained to become a therapy dog for children with special needs.

Each month of the 12-month calendar, a popular and much-awaited annual fundraiser for AHS, contains a full-color photo of one of the thousands of animals who are given a new lease on life after coming through the doors of Associated Humane Societies’ 3 shelters in Newark, Tinton Falls or Forked River, or taking up residence at Popcorn Park, a sanctuary for once-abused, neglected or abandoned animals.

“Our 2009 calendar is the best way we know to show how much we’ve accomplished and show our supporters how much they’ve helped us accomplish,” said Roseann Trezza, Executive Director, AHS/Popcorn Park. “Each beautiful color photo is a testament to the time, love and funds invested in each animal, whether he or she still resides with us or has found a forever home through our adoption and publicity efforts.”

The full-color glossy calendars make perfect gifts for all animal lovers.

A minimum donation of $15 for the first and $10 for additonal calendars is appreciated. Please send your request to Associated Humane Societies/Popcorn Park, 124 Evergreen Ave., Newark, NJ 07114 or contact us via e-mail. Calendars are also available for purchase at Popcorn Park Zoo on Humane Way off Lacey Road in Forked River or order right here through our web site.
