Beyonce - Survived on Bones and Debris

When we received an email describing the sad story of a beautiful girl named Beyonce, we knew we had to help. Beyonce is a 1 1/2 year old beautiful blond pit/lab mix that was in a shelter in North Carolina. When she was picked up as a stray and brought to the shelter, her distended belly gave the impression that she was carrying a litter of pups. X-rays were taken to determine how many pups Beyonce was carrying, but after reviewing the X-rays, the staff was quite surprised that there we no pups, but instead, Beyonce's belly was full of bones and debris. It seems this young lady was on her own for quite a while, and was eating garbage to stay alive.

Further examination revealed that young Beyonce was also shot, and was full of buckshot. To suffer such an awful existence in the short time that this innocent creature has been on this earth, we decided that Beyonce most definitely deserves a fresh start in life, and a safe, loving home. Since Beyonce was in a shelter that uses the gas chamber to euthanize animals, a wonderful rescue in NC pulled her out quickly, and sent her north to Popcorn Park.

As soon as we met Beyonce, she practically crawled to us, with her tail between her legs, wagging vigorously. Beyonce was excited to meet a new friend, but was unsure of the situation so when we reached out to pet her, she automatically flinched and cringed. After a few minutes and more shy tail wagging, Beyonce decided that we were okay in her book, and her shy tail wag turned into a whole body wiggle, as she crawled right up into our lap.

Beyonce absolutely loves to get attention, affection, and shown kindness. If you stop petting her for a second, she will gently remind you that she is still there, waiting to be petted, by putting her paw on your leg. She is eager to make new friends and check out her new surroundings too, and is already enjoying going for walks.

She is currently staying in our Tinton Falls facility, and will move back to Popcorn Park in about a week. Let's show Beyonce the good side of the human race, and get her the wonderful home that she's dreaming of! A donation to our Res-Q Fund  will help us to continue our efforts to rescue those animals in need of a safe haven until a lifetime home can be found.

For more information on Beyonce, call the Associated Humane Societies at 732-922-0100 or e-mail us. Her temporary home is at 2960 Shafto Road in Tinton Falls, near the Rt. 33-34 Circle. Beyonce would do best in a home without other dogs or cats.
