When her Newark owner passed away, Princess was left alone without anyone to care for her. The mature maiden was brought to the Society's Newark shelter in February as no relatives were found to take care of her.
This 8 year old Pekingese was examined by our veterinarian and found to have a severe case of dry eye causing blindness in both eyes. Her eyes were cleaned and treated, and going forward, Princess needs eye drops on a daily basis.
After several weeks of waiting for adoption at our Newark facility, she was transferred to our Tinton Falls facility in the hope that a new location and new visitors might help her find "a new leash on life". Princess is a sweetheart -- quiet, friendly and waiting to be your devoted companion.
Thanks to donations to our ResQ Fund from animal lovers like you, we are able to be patient in our efforts to find a lifetime commitment for Princess. Contrary to what is being said about us on some Facebook pages, we are NOT a high-kill shelter.
For more information on Princess, call the Society at 732-922-0100 and refer to File 73755 or contact us via email.
Our Tinton Falls facility, located at 2960 Shafto Road, near the Rt. 33-34 Circle, is open 7 days a week for your convenience. Please stop in and meet Princess and some of the many other animals awaiting adoption. All adopted animals are provided with a medical guarantee, spay/neuter, collar, tag, microchip and leash.
