Meet Buddy – the greatest Great Dane of all time!!! He is a delightful 1 year old gent who had a miserable life with his owner in Alabama. The AHS/Popcorn Park partners with several rescues and one of them advised us of the horrific story on this lad. Buddy’s owners kept him in a 4x4 outside pen during his life. As a result, Buddy sustained injuries, scars and damage to the eye which needed to be removed. When the owners moved out of their home, they left Buddy abandoned there. The rescue group took him in, got him medical treatment, and eventually found him a home. Unfortunately, Buddy's new family had to give him up a short time later due to a conflict within the family, so Buddy found himself homeless again.
Big, beautiful Buddy made his way to Popcorn Park and we were just thrilled to welcome him. At first, we didn't think he was too thrilled to meet us. Buddy was so very shy and terrified, that we thought he would never come out of his shell. With a little patience and lots of love and kindness, Buddy shed his big shell and is now everyone's best friend! Buddy does not pass any of his new friends by without greeting them with a pawshake and tail wag. Buddy is a big leaner too.....you know he loves you when he leans right into you to get you to give him more attention.
Buddy is very well behaved and gets along great with everyone, including other dogs and cats too. He absolutely loves to run in our exercise yard, but unfortunately, Buddy is heartworm positive and he is presently being treated and will need to be kept calm during his convalescence. Thanks to donations to the Res-Q Fund, Buddy as well as other dogs in need of medical care will be given optimal treatment.
Buddy is truly a gentle giant that has so much love to give. He does a huge happy-paw dance when he sees you and has a giant smile on his handsome face when you show him kindness. He is so deserving of a fresh start in life in the best home ever. Please come and meet our beautiful Buddy and you'll fall in love with him too! He is at Popcorn Park – Humane Way and Lacey Road in Forked River. For more information, call the Society at 609-693-1900 or e-mail us
