The Associated Humane Societies/Popcorn Park Refuge is offering a $2,500 reward to help find the person or people who abandoned 13 cats, three kittens and a pit bull terrier at the West New York Police Department Garage on Monday, January 12.
The Society's Newark facility immediately dispatched an ambulance at the request of the West New York Health Department. Most of the cats and kittens were sick, malnourished, had upper respiratory infections, ear mites and appeared neglected. All are being treated and we are hoping animal lovers will contact us if they are interested in providing a forever home.
Who would have 17 pets to abandon is a mystery. What is known is these 13 cats, three kittens and sweet pit bull terrier all deserve more respect and care than they were afforded. Our ultimate goal is to see that these animals all end up with happy, healthy lives and that justices is served to the person or people responsible.
Associated Humane Societies has set up a reward fund to anyone offering information that leads to the arrest and conviction of whoever abandoned these animals at the West New York Police Garage.
Witnesses can call the New Jersey SPCA at 1-800-582-5979. Anyone wishing to make a donation to help the AHS care for these animals can call Associated Humane Societies at 973-824-7080, or mail a contribution to 124 Evergreen Ave., Newark, N J 07114 or donate here online.
AHS's Res-Q Fund is a restricted fund established to help offset the expenses of animals requiring special care like these abandoned pets. Read more about our Res-Q Fund and how it's making a difference to animals in need.
