We could surmise several scenarios as to how this dog was no longer wanted and so she was left tied to a fence and abandoned. There are an overwhelming number of scars on her face and front legs. She may have been used as a “bait” dog or they may have attempted to have her mated.
Her evaluation by Linda Goodman says: “Our sweet young lady is the ultimate professor of forgiveness and she holds no one responsible for her current condition. She harbors no grudgers. Although she failed to respond to 'sit' or 'down' commands in several languages, Droste readily folded in my open lap as I sat next to her and then comfortably and trustingly rolled over for a belly rub”.
More heartbreaking to acknowledge was Linda’s reference to her need for love and acceptance: “Affectionately, she kissed my hand as I stroked her head and actively solicited my touch. Not interested in any toys (she probably never had toys as a pup), this 2 year old pit bull terrier readily released the rawhide bone I gave her and demonstrated perfect dinner manners. Nothing can erase her past, but Droste deserves a future filled with love and the same acceptance she graciously bestows on all others”. File N-81770-F (Newark)
