With occurring frequency during these rough economic times, the Society takes in many dogs and cats brought in together from multi-pet and multi species households.

Rarely have we seen a symbiotic relationship as that between Princess and the Pussycat. From what we have gathered, a newborn kitten was rescued and Princess became the surrogate mother for this youngster. They have been together as a family for this past year until the owner had to give them up.
When it was their turn to have their picture taken, Princess immediately edged over to her feline friend and sat in the litterbox in a protective stance. Surely, the very special relationship between the two is a lesson in love and equality. Finding a lifelong commitment for this pair is a challenging effort. We hope that a special home can be found for their emotional bond is extraordinary. Princess: File N-83333-F and Pussycat is File N-83362-F (Newark).
Buried in our hearts is a message from Sonny the Elephant that fits this situation: "The worst thing we can ever do is to lose ourself in the world, finding ones self without a herd. A herd can be just two though and I have learned that we do not always have to look like each other. Help others learn that we are all connected in life. The greatest memorial to me that you can give is that of my story to the world". We continue to tell Sonny's message as the situation fits.
