Nothing is as heartbreaking as a small, defenseless dog found wandering the streets at night. The Society was called after a Police Officer in Irvington found her on a busy street. We call her Peg and she is a quiet little soul who has survived being alone on the streets for awhile. The Chihuahua is estimated to be about 5 years old. She is portly so she has not missed many meals. She waited in our Newark shelter for a week, and we eagerly awaited an owner's call. She could be easily identified as she was born with a deformed leg. The brown female Chihuahua had no collar, no tag and no microchip so we will never know what her background was or the circumstances of her being homeless. She is small enough to fit on your lap and in your heart. File N-95027-F and she now waits in our Forked River shelter.
