The beginning of the work week has brought more visitors on our website. Patrick was given a brief respite from Society staffers. He continued to receive 24 hour round-the-clock care by Garden State Veterinary Specialists.

According to staffers at GSVS and Society Tinton Falls Manager Bruce Sanchez, Patrick is actually wagging his tail! He is truly becoming a real dog again. Since there is a foreign body inside, his meals are frequent ... but small. He is always looking for treats ... and someday soon, he will have enough to satisfy his hunger for food and for love.
Donations for Patrick's continued care, future diagnostics and procedures for the foreign body, are gratefully accepted through our ResQ-Fund.
UPDATE ON THE SPCA INVESTIGATION AND CHARGES: According to New Jersey SPCA officials, a 28 year-old Newark woman, Kisha Curtis, has been identified as Patrick's alleged owner, and was charged with four counts of animal cruelty. She was charged with two counts of abandonment and two counts of failure to provide proper sustenance.
Curtis faces two criminal counts and two civil counts which could give her up to six months in jail or a $1,000 fine and community service if she is convicted.
Curtis apparently told police that she couldn't take care of Patrick anymore, but she denies responsibility for the 1 year-old dog being thrown down the apartment garbage chute. The New Jersey SPCA is currently investigating whether or not another person was involved in the case.
We will provide more details as they are made available to us.
