When a Newark resident was hospitalized, she found it necessary to relinquish ownership of her 7 Chihuahuas. The family contacted the Society and we took in the entire family. They are extremely frightened to be in a new, strange place and staffers have taken extreme effort and attention to handling them several times a day. As wewrite this post, they have only been with us two days and it will take a little longer to gain their trust. All of them will be spayed/neutered before adoption. They range in age from 1 to 4 years of age and once they gain enough confidence, they will be loving companions.

6/1/2012 - If you'd like to visit these Chihuahuas, they can be seen at the Society's Popcorn Park shelter, located off Lacey Road in Forked River, just off Exit 74 of the Garden State Parkway. You can also help by contributing to their care ... a donation to our Res-Q Fund helps us to help these lapdogs and many others.
