This beautiful cat was one of several picked for experiments at a veterinary technician training school in North Carolina.

The students were new to the handling of real animals so they weren't always as kind and gentle as they could be. After the term was over, this lovely cat was going to be killed at the county pound next door. One of the vet technician students put out an urgent e-mail asking to help Dutchess and 5 other cats and 6 dogs who were facing the death sentence.
In October 2011, the Associated Humane Societies/Popcorn Park took all of them in -- and all were adopted except Dutchess.
June is Adopt-A-Cat month and what better time than to find a lifetime of love for this lonely lass.
This year, the Society's cat adoption program is PAY WHAT THE KITTY WEIGHS PLUS A SPAY! Dutchess is available upon approval of an adoption application for a $50 donation. If you'd like to visit Dutchess or the many other cats and dogs available for adoption, they can be seen at the Society's Popcorn Park shelter, located off Lacey Road in Forked River, just off Exit 74 of the Garden State Parkway. The special PAY WHAT THE KITTY WEIGHS PLUS A SPAY! offer is available at all 3 of our shelters. You can also help by contributing to their care ... a donation to our Res-Q Fund helps us to help this lovable lass and many others.
