Bleach Thrown on Dog Pair

Thanks to the outstanding work of the Newark Police, an officer brought this pit bull terrier twosome to the Society. Bleach had been thrown on the unwelcome pair. Although obviously well cared for, the Society has learned that this act of cruelty was a result of domestic violence.

They were immediately given immediate medical care and were watered down internally and externally.

The looks on their faces when they arrived showed the heartrending and poignant disbelief of the treatment they had received. The twosome will stay in the care of the Society until the matter is adjudicated. The Society is in continual need of donations for its Res-Q Fund which enables us to give medical care to animals in cases like these, to sick or injured strays or to send them out to veterinary specialists for orthopedic or other types of surgery.

The pit bull terriers are at the Society's Newark facility while the matter is under investigation.

For more information on the many animals available for adoption, call the Society at 973-824-7080, e-mail us or click on one of the shelter links on this page for featured animals.

The Associated Humane Societies is located at 124 Evergreen Ave in Newark, just off of Rt. 1 and 9 near the NJ Turnpike, the Newark Airport and Rt. 22. The Society is open 7 days a week and has over 150 dogs and cats awaiting adoption.
