Tulip and Caroline of Ocean County

Share:

f this doesn't show the bond that animals can have with one another then nothing will! Tulip and Caroline never met before coming to our facility in August of 2016 when they were found within three days of each other as scared, stray kittens. Tulip, gray and white, and Caroline, black and white, both needed lots of time, patience and understanding at first. They were born to feral moms and had little to no human interaction in their young lives. Little by little, the girls began to come out of their shells, getting strength and courage from each other. Bunking together seemed to help them so much but now, they are just inseparable! The girls are as close as sisters, and can always be found snuggling together and playing. They are both so affectionate and sweet now, and they get along great with other cats. They truly love each other and at this point, we would never dream of separating the pair. They are still hoping for a wonderful home to grow up in but in the meantime, are eager to meet some new sponsors that will give them lots of love and extra attention!

We established the Share-A-Pet Program in February 1978 to save the lives of a number of dogs and cats who, for various reasons, were in special need of a “New Leash on Life.” The animals are selected by the Society staff from among those at our Animal Care Centers which the Society considers unadoptable due to age, handicap, medical problems, abuse, length of stay, etc. All Share-A-Pet sponsors through our web site will receive via e-mail the Society’s publication, the HUMANE NEWS, plus every four months, a color photo of each dog or cat they are sponsoring and a letter telling about the health and activities of the animal. All sponsors will also receive a Share-A-Pet membership card, which entitles you to free admission to Popcorn Park Zoo for the duration of your sponsorship. Please note: Should funds for one animal exceed the cost of its care, they are applied to all cats and dogs in need on the Share-A-Pet Program.

Popcorn Park was established in 1977 for the sole purpose of providing a refuge for wildlife that were sick, elderly, abandoned , abused, or injured, and which could no longer survive in its natural habitat. As time went on, we expanded to include exotic and domestic animals. All our residents once faced these circumstances, as well as exploitation and illegal ownership. Over 200 of these animals and birds now live in spacious surroundings in the heart of the scenic Pine Barrens in southern New Jersey. The Refuge, which is federally licensed, comprises seven acres and is graced by the indigenous Scrub Oak and Scrub Pine. You may be greeted at the gate by a gaggle of geese, but soon you will see a marvelous array of animals including a lion and lionesses. tigers, mountain lions, baboons, a serval cat, and more. Many different types of monkeys clamor for your attention in the monkey house, and the Refuge abounds with all kinds of native wildlife such as white-tailed deer, bobcats, and American black bears. Farm animals such as horses, steer. sheep, pigs, llamas and goats often look for a handout, and reptiles and tortoises enjoy their own special house. In addition, you'll find numerous species of birds have made themselves comfortable throughout the park. But what makes Popcorn Park so special is that each animal was rescued from suffering, exploitation and/or death - each has its own unique story to tell. You will learn these stories as you walk through the Refuge and as you visit this section of our web site. You have entered a quiet world where all the residents were once in danger and now are safe. So start your journey - bring your curiosity and respect for these beautiful creatures.
