Help Reduce Unwanted Animals

low cost spay and neuter services

The Society takes a very pro-active position in regard to the neutering of pets, and actively contributes toward the reduction of unwanted, homeless animals. Those animals adopted from the Society are either spayed or neutered prior to adoption, or are adopted to the new owner with an additional deposit which is refundable only upon proof of neutering provided by their veterinarian.

Available at our Clinics and Mobile Unit

We offer spaying and neutering services at our Newark and Lacey Veterinary clinics and through our Mobile Spay/Neuter Unit in Essex, Hudson and Union Counties. Our Medical Dept.in Newark has increased its hours and the number of veterinarians to assist in the health and care of your pet. For an appointment, please all 973-643-0451. Payment is made by cash or credit card. We also accept Care Credit.

Associated Humane Societies' Mobile Spay/Neuter Clinic is out and about, offering low cost spay and neuter services, vaccines and micro-chips to private pet owners. This project, which is under Humane Alliance, a national spay/ neuter program, was the first group to be trained with the ASPCA in New York. All animals spayed or neutered on the unit get their nails clipped, ears cleaned and sport a tattoo showing that they have been altered. We also work with TNR groups, spaying and neutering feral cats, providing them with a rabies inoculation and ear tipped for identification.

If you are part of a feral cat caretakers group, a senior community, a health department, an animal shelter who needs veterinary programs, etc., we can help with your local animal overpopulation program. For information on this program and when we can schedule a trip to your area, please call (973) 824-7080.
