Holly Gets the Help She Needs, Thanks to So Many

This beautiful and sweet young labrador mix named Holly was surrendered to our Tinton Falls facility back in February when her family no longer wanted her.  They claimed that Holly, just a little over a year old, was counter-surfing and just wouldn't listen to them.  It's likely a good thing that Holly's family gave up on her so easily, since counter-surfing was the least of Holly's problems.

Upon arrival, Holly underwent a medical examination by our AHS- Tinton Falls veterinarian, Dr. Emily Marion, who quickly discovered that this girl was suffering with a salivary mucocoele.  This is a condition that develops when the salivary gland is damaged and leaks saliva under the skin.  The treatment for this condition is removal of the entire salivary gland, which is an extensive and costly surgery and, on average, can cost well over $2000.  As a non-profit, it becomes very difficult in a case such as this to find the funds necessary to help an animal in need but once again, so many angels stepped in and enabled us to get the help for Holly that she desperately needed.

A Facebook fundraiser was held to raise the funds necessary for this surgery and we would like to send out a huge thank you to all of our kind and compassionate supporters that helped us to raise over $700 for Holly!  Holly was taken to Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital where Dr. Christopher Campbell was incredibly kind and generous enough to discount the surgery to just $580.00.  We cannot thank Dr. Campbell and his staff enough for curing Holly, and giving her a chance at a fresh start in life.

Holly is now available for adoption at AHS- Tinton Falls and this beautiful and friendly girl is ready for a wonderful family of her own that will love her, spoil her, and never give up on her again.  If interested in Holly, please contact AHS- Tinton Falls at 732-922-0100 or email:  tintonfallsahs@aol.com and refer to File#36650.  Please consider making a donation to our Res-Q Fund in honor of Holly, to help so many animals like her that come through our doors every day.
