Humane News

The world is facing one of the toughest challenges it has known. Each of our lives has been impacted in some way by the Coronavirus pandemic. Animals’ lives have been affected as well; yet what remains the same at AHS/Popcorn Park Refuge is that those animals in our hands continue to receive the love and good care they always have.

The lead story in our News section is about how the global crisis has affected animals, people, and the environment, particularly regarding the involvement of “wet markets” both abroad and here in the U.S. … plus the unintended benefits to animals. You can also take a look at our devoted shelter and Popcorn Park staff as they navigate the pandemic in their everyday work.

We have wonderful cover stories for you – Tyson, a pup with cerebellar hypoplasia; Nico, a handsome cat suffering with luxating patellas who is facing surgery; and the latest news about the Hillside hoarding case, in which AHS rescued dozens of neglected dogs, cats, and birds. We know you’ll want to read these great stories.
