Zara- found abandoned and zipped in a carrier

We'll just never understand what drives people to do the things that they do to innocent, defenseless animals.  To abandon a helpless, six pound cat in a park, zipped in a carrier on a cold winter day is beyond our comprehension, but that is exactly what happened to this tiny cat.  Luckily, a good samaritan happened upon the carrier and instead of just walking by, decided to look and see what was inside.  The frightened animal that was inside was a female silver tabby of only about a year and a half old.  She had some old t-shirts on the bottom of her carrier and was also left with a bowl of food.  The other bowl, likely that held water at some point, was empty.

This little cat, who has since been named Zara by the staff at our AHS Newark facility, was picked up by ACO Amanda and taken in for immediate evaluation and treatment.  Despite being left out in the cold on a snowy day, Zara appears to be in good overall health and her body condition is good as well.  Although she was certainly traumatized from the sad events that transpired in her young life, she is just as sweet as can be.  She just wants to be held and sticks to people like glue, desperate for attention.
