Estelle

In April, 2019, our AHS Newark branch received the call to go out to a Nutley, NJ residence where many cats were found to be living in terrible conditions after their owner passed away.  AHS officers arrived at the home and found more than 35 cats living in garbage, feces, urine, and absolute disaster.  All but five of the cats were pure white, many with blue eyes or bi-eyes.

Many of the cats were quite traumatized when they arrived.  They lacked proper care throughout their lives and had far too many litters.  Many were deaf as well.  We took in 19 of the cats here at AHS/Popcorn Park. With lots of rehabilitation and plenty of TLC, we are very happy to say that 17 of the 19 cats were adopted to wonderful homes.  Sadly, one cat was diagnosed with late-stage cancer and did not make it.  That leaves just one, Estelle.

Estelle is about 3 years old now she's always been an independent cat.  She had little to no human interaction in her young life and even now, she isn't a fan of getting lots of attention.  She is a fan of treats though, and will follow you around for them.  But if you reach to pet her, she looks at you as if she's wondering what you're doing.  Estelle stays in our free-roaming area where she's happy, and she socializes with the other cats.  We would love for her to know what a home is like though, and what better time for her to find a good home than on her two year anniversary?

Estelle is completely deaf.  She will likely never be a lap cat, but she will be so happy to share your home with you and eventually, maybe she will blossom into a couch-buddy.  But if she doesn't, her adopter has to be prepared for that.  Estelle loves other cats and will need to go to a home with another cat that can help her adjust.  If you're interested in this beautiful, independent cat, contact AHS/Popcorn Park at 609-693-1900 or email:  office@ahsppz.org for an application for her.  File#28920  4/15/19
