This adorable 2 month old pup was purchased/obtained and has experienced misery and pain during the few short weeks of life.
The AHS became involved when a pet owner called first and then brought the pup to us after "the kids in the house tried to break the dog's neck". We had also been told that his 7-8 year old nephew tried to take/pull the head off the pup. During a conversation with the medical staff, the owner advised that the pup "was only out (passed out) for a little while".
Since that time, the owner called the Medical Dept. once about surrendering the dog but has not actually done so nor have we heard any further from him in that regard. He has called the Administrative Offices threatening action to take ownership of the dog. We have, in turn, threatened to take action as they delayed timely veterinary care for the pup. In the meantime, the Society has refused to return the dog to the owner where it would be placed in the same situation as before. We are gearing up for either a legal argument …. drawing a line in the sand and finding a new home for a deserving pup.
Your donations continue to help the Society as it travels the minefields of each days' efforts to uphold animals' rights and find new homes. Please rest assured that the Society's decisions and efforts always are geared to the betterment of animals. It is all about the animals….
The name of this pup and other information is being withheld until the matter and ownership has been brought to a conclusion.
When this case is over and completed and Baby is in our possession, this man will probably go out and get another pup to bring home to the same situation. New Jersey needs a cruelty/abuse registry for such situations.
