Bartleby Suffered with Untreated Broken Leg

Little Bartleby got his Christmas wish this year ... he is safe, and amongst people who care about him. It seems that it wasn't always this way for Bartleby. Bartleby hopped through our doors as a stray and just broke our hearts. This young beagle/dachshund mix suffered a badly broken leg at some point in his young life, and no one ever bothered to get him help for it. When our animal control officer found Bartleby and brought him in, she carried him straight to our veterinarian who immediately took xrays of the painful appendage.

She determined that his leg was indeed broken, but it was broken long ago and since it was left untreated, it healed in a deformed and painful position. After a thorough examination, Bartleby was put on several medications to make him comfortable and treat his upper respiratory infection, and once his cold clears up, his leg will most likely need to be amputated.

What a shame that no one ever did the right thing for this loving, sweet little guy. He is thrilled to be warm, well fed, sleeping on big, comfy beds, and most of all loved. We will take good care of Bartleby and once he is all healed up, he will put this whole ordeal behind him and get a wonderful, loving home, just like he deserves.

We could not do this kind of work for animals in need like Bartleby if it were not for the generous support of our donors. Our Res-Q Fund is the fund that enables us to help Bartleby, and so many others like him. Please consider making a donation to help us to continue doing the work that we do.
