Pearl's Wonderful Progress

Pearl now Jan. 8, 2014!

Our little girlie Pearly is doing so much better! We are just thrilled with the progress she has made in the few short months that she has been with us, and we would like to thank all of our generous supporters who contribute to our Res-Q Fund for without this fund, who knows where little Pearl would be.

Pearl came to us a couple of months ago when a police officer found her stumbling around on the street in Newark. Our AHS Newark facility was called immediately to get this poor little dog and she was brought straight in for medical care. As you can see by the two pictures below, Pearl was in terrible shape. It's quite obvious that someone dumped little Pearl in the street and left her for dead. This little 3 pound dog could not have wandered away from a home on her own and wound up in the street. Not only is Pearl nearly blind, but she also has a neurological disorder which causes her difficulty in walking, she was completely emaciated and dehydrated, and she had pneumonia. Pearl was also diagnosed with ringworm a short time after she came down to stay with us at Popcorn Park.

It's been a long, tough road for the tiny little Pearl, but she is definitely a fighter. The pneumonia has cleared up and we are waiting for some test results to see if her ringworm has cleared up as well. Pearl is so strong now and while she is still wobbly and unsure on her feet, she is getting around so much better and standing with her head held high. She eats like a little champ and once she gets her clean bill of health, she will have most of her broken teeth removed and have another spa day too.

We couldn't have saved this little angel without your help. Please make a contribution to our Res-Q Fund to help us to continue to help so many others like Pearl.

Stay tuned for more on Pearl's progress and again, thank you all so much for your thoughts and support of our little lady.
