Dante loving the snow.
In October of last fall while Dante was rolling around in his yard scratching his back and looking for some attention, we noticed what seemed to be an open abscess under his chin. Two days later we sedated him to clean it up and to check him over well. We cleaned up the abscess but while checking the area found that the skin at the edges of the wound were pretty thick and not in line with an abscess, so we took some tissue samples. Dante did well and woke up fine, he just kept a special eye out for the veterinarian, or any of the staff who looked like they might be carrying a blowpipe, for the next couple days.
Dante sedated while receiving his chemo treatment.
We sent the sample to the state lab and a week later got some not so good news. Dante has hair follicle cancer … a malignant follicular tumor. We sedated him again and removed any abnormal tissue around the site and then shot some X-rays of his lungs. They looked clear of any tumors so we then started Dante on a round of chemotherapy for that type of tumor. He's sedated once every 5 weeks and treated, and has handled it well so far. The next treatment will have to be done at NorthStar Vets so they can do a ct-scan to make sure the cancer has not metastasized.
Brand new traveling crate will make trips to the specialist easier.
We also had a crate fabricated for Dante and the rest of our bigger cats so traveling would be easier and would greatly reduce the time that they would have to be under sedation. So in about 3 weeks we'll load Dante up in his new travel crate and head up to NorthStar, hoping for the best news, hoping for the promise of a complete recovery.
Your help in supporting Dante during his chemotherapy and medical expenses would be greatly appreciated. Please make a donation and help out if you can, and mention its for Dante. Thanks.
