Butch was a "yard" dog -- chained for his entire life -- day in, day out. He was chained to a tree with a broken-down dog house for shelter and nothing but an empty bowl to play with. He rarely had a decent meal or fresh water.
When his owners abandoned the house, they left Butch chained to a tree. It was probably the greatest blessing for Butch -- the neighbors took action and brought him to Popcorn Park to start a better life all over.
He is remarkably sweet, loving, affectionate, and even though he had an ignorant and cruel owner, he truly loves people. He gets excited when it's his turn for a walk and tends to jump a little, but once Butch is outside, he is the perfect gentleman. He is smart and well behaved, and is really loving life these days. Butch is heartworm positive because of his languishing as a backyard dog all of his life. This medical care and treatment is done through your kindness and generosity to our Res-Q Fund. We are treating Butch for that and will continue with his treatment should he get adopted. Butch gets along fine with most dogs but is a bit frightened of cats. He would make a wonderful addition to any good family that will promise to love and care about him forever, and never leave him out in the cold again.
We just don't understand why no one has looked at this 2- 1/2 year old cattle dog mix. He is such a charmer -- playful and sweet. All he wants to do is share his big red toy with you and play for awhile. File#23218-M
