Van Gogh and Aslan - April 8

Our little buddy Vinnie Van Gogh met someone just like him today ... it was our buddy Aslan! Remember Aslan? Aslan has a story very similar to Vinnie's

Back in August 2013, we assisted the federal authorities in a raid on a residence where dog-fighting was going on, along with the sale of illegal guns and drugs. When our manager and staff arrived on the scene, there were several dogs in the backyard that were heavily chained to dilapidated dog houses. One unlucky soul was in a cage in the garage where a fighting ring was set up. This poor dog had been used as a bait dog the night before, and was lying in a pool of blood with terrible wounds all over his face and body. He could barely lift his head, yet when our manager lifted his cage to load him into our van, the dog began licking his fingers through the cage. He named him Aslan, and this poor dog was taken straight to the emergency vet to be stitched up.

Read Aslan's full story as well as his updates here.

It took a while for Aslan to learn to trust again but when he did, boy did he turn into a different dog. Aslan is now trusting, loving, affectionate and super friendly. He absolutely loves life and has put his terrible, miserable past behind him. Aslan is completely healed up and has some physical scars that will last a lifetime, but we hope that with all of the love and care that we have given him, he will not have any emotional scars. Aslan is only about 2 1/2 years old and is a very outgoing and lovable guy. He will need a home with no cats, but Aslan actually doesn't seem to mind some dogs, and he even seems to like many of them that he's met, like Vinnie! Aslan is coming up on his eight month anniversary of living an abuse-free life with us. While we love having him here, we would love even more for him to get a wonderful home of his own. Meanwhile, we have added Aslan to our Share-A-Pet Program and you can sponsor Aslan here.

Vinnie was happy to share camera time with Aslan today, especially after he heard his story. We could tell that if Vinnie were healthy enough to run and play, he and Aslan both would have loved to play for a while with each other. It's truly amazing that both of these beautiful young boys hold absolutely nothing against other dogs, nor do they have any ill-will toward people. We could all learn a real lesson from Vinnie and Aslan.

Aslan is also a proud pup that had his life saved thanks to our Res-Q Fund. We talk about that fund often, but as you can see, there is always a need for it and always a life to save. To help us save more lives, please make a contribution to our fund.

Thank you all again for helping us to save the lives of both Vinnie and Aslan. If you are interested in giving our beautiful Aslan a home, please come in and meet him. We know you'll love him too. And of course, stay tuned for more from the Invincible Vinnie!
