It was almost 2 months ago when the AHS received an unusual pet alert that had been sent out nationally.
A blind dog and his seeing dog companion were in Tennessee. These two had a wonderful happy home but their person had suddenly died of a heart attack and their world collapsed. The Society offered to take them.
Kozy is blind and because he lives in a world of darkness, Tupelo-Honey stays by his side and comforts him the best she can. They are totally bonded -- especially since their owner is no longer there for them. They were at a shelter in Tennessee. When someone approaches, Kozy is nervous and then Tupelo-Honey will give a bit of a warning growl -- until they realize no harm will come and they are then sweet and happy.
Many promises were made to rescue them but none turned out favorably.
AHS/Popcorn Park was then called … and we stated as we had before that we would keep them until the right home appeared. They were brought to Popcorn Park and are now part of our caring staff.
If you would like to help while they are with us, your donation will ensure that our doors always remain open.
The Society is located on Humane Way off Lacey Road in Forked River, just off Exit 74 of the GSP. For more information, call us at 609-693-1900 or e-mail us.
