We took the camera along on Vinnie's third exercise session of the day today, hoping to show you all how hard he is working to get himself back in tip-top shape. Now folks, if you could see Vinnie first thing in the morning after he's had his coffee, breakfast, read the paperwork and spent some time in the lavatory, then you would see him really let loose with his aerobics and calisthenics. Unfortunately, we didn't get that one on video. We did, however, get Vinnie on Vinnie-o at the end of the day today when all he wanted to do was goof off! Vinnie tried to use the excuse that he just didn't feel footloose and fancy-free since we made him wear a raincoat, but we kind of knew that he just wanted to play instead of work.
Vinnie has been working very hard lately at getting his hips moving again after his major surgeries just a few short weeks ago. His surgeon, physical therapist, and his personal physician, Dr. Baris, are all absolutely amazed at the progress that Vinnie is making and just how strong he is. Most dogs would still have trouble putting full weight on their hips after having the femoral heads removed in both hips. Most people wouldn't even want to get out of bed after having such a surgery! But Vinnie, well, Vinnie is just invincible and continues to amaze us every day. He is up and running, and always ready to play and have fun. Nothing seems to get him down!
Vinnie will continue several weeks of exercises get his hips in shape and build muscle in his legs. He already has arthritis and some nerve damage in his front legs as a result of the severe injuries that he sustained in the brutal attack on him a few months ago, so the exercise will help with that also. Thank you all for following Vinnie along his journey and cheering him on during his recovery. We read all of his cards to him, give him all of his gifts, and he appreciates everything that you all do for him. If any of you have somehow missed Vinnie's original story or any of his updates, or just put Van Gogh in the Site Search box at left and catch up. Thanks again, and please stay tuned for more from the Invincible Vinnie!
