When little Guinness came to us only a week ago, she just broke our hearts. This little lady was adopted out for the last 5 years and came back to us because the other dog in the home attacked her three times recently. Once our veterinarian examined Guinness, it was plain to see that besides the open, fresh wounds that she had on her, she also had old, healed up scars from living a tough life. Guinness just could not be any nicer though, and welcomed all of the attention that we gave her.
When one of our volunteers read of the newest kid on the block in the volunteer update, she just knew she had to come right away to meet Guinness. She recently lost her beloved boxer a few weeks ago and was beside herself with grief. She didn't know if she was ready to adopt again but once she read about Guinness and saw her pictures, she knew that if she was going to adopt again, she would adopt Guinness.
Cathy came right in to meet Guinness and the connection between them was instant. Guinness approached Cathy with her tail wagging, and gently pressed up against her leg. Cathy knew that this was absolutely meant to be. We could not ask for a better home for the deserving Guinness and were so thrilled that Cathy would be adopting her but just when we were going to thank Cathy for opening her heart and home to this sweet girl, she said, "thank you for saving my life". It seems Cathy needs Guinness as much as Guinness needs her.
Congratulations to Guinness, Cathy and family, and may you have a wonderful, happy, long and healthy life together!
